Back at the Prairie

This weekend I headed back to the Prairie (remember the last time? part 1, part 2) for a nice getaway in celebration of my mom-in-law's birthday. As per usual, the place was completely divine. We stayed in the same house as last time, though next I vow to try one of the smaller cottages and go alone, to just soak in all the quiet and peace and beauty. Bring a book, read, write, give myself permission to not take any pictures. Sounds pretty nice.

Here's a few snapshots from the weekend because, you know, I just couldn't help myself...

Hope your week is off to a splendid start!

At The Prairie, Part II

As promised yesterday, part II from The Prairie! I'm so excited to share these photos with you. This place is like a big fluffy cloud. That's all there is to it. We stayed in the Seabury Suite at Liliput Lodge, and it was just the most perfect thing. I cannot wait to go back with a book and some writing and plans to relax and soak it in instead of work. Rachel Ashwell, can you come do our new house? ...Please?

Brittney from Smitten Imagery and Pearl. We wanted to keep her.

The next set of photos are from the Ranger's Lounge, which is the office and common area at the Prairie. You go here for coffee and breakfast in the morning, and it's just as divine as the rest of the place. See for yourself!

Marie and our fabulous Chef (also Pearl's daddy!)

Thank you so much to Marie, Kim, and Rachel Ashwell, of course, for the lovely hospitality. Counting down the days 'til my next stay. :)

To see more photos from around the property, check out the Part I post here!

At The Prairie, Part I

Picture this: you've been driving about two hours now, through farmland and fields of cows and strange eerie pine forests and hills and empty expanses of land and little towns that look like tiny settlements you may have seen 100 years ago and never really changed... and just when you think you might never find the place, you see the sign and turn down a bumpy dirt road, anticipation growing, because you have a feeling this is going to be good.  And then you arrive, and you turn into a field with a long, long lane down the middle and a big white house at the end, and you've reached your destination! Shabby chic paradise... the Prairie by Rachel Ashwell. As you may know, I was there last week for some photos, and it was to. die. for.

When I was looking through my images last night, I realized that I have way too many for only one post, so today this is just an introduction to the grounds outside, which really can't be captured accurately in pictures. It's like some kind of dreamland. Already planning my next trip. Can't wait to show you the amazing details of the place tomorrow! Happy Wednesday...

right: Brittney of Smitten Imagery in action!

this is Pearl, the Prairie dog. She is amazing and I took four hundred pictures of her.
