Going to the chapel...

My best friend's wedding has come and gone... it was a beautiful, fabulous weekend and we made memories we won't soon forget. Friday night, us girls and the bride went out for a grand time on the San Antonio riverwalk (what happens at Pat O' Brien's, stays at Pat O'Brien's...) and Saturday we managed to get the bride successfully to the absolutely gorgeous chapel and the reception that followed. I can't wait until the photographer has more pics to share from the day. I didn't want to step on the photog's toes OR feel like I was working, so I just snapped a few shots here and there and called it a day.

Megan and Brandon, wishing you a life together as beautiful as your lovely wedding was! Cheers... :)

Megan's Grandma made her this stunning brooch bouquet!

A black and white themed bridal shower

My best friend's wedding is fast approaching (December 1st! SO soon!), and as maid of honor, one of my duties was to throw the bride-to-be a shower.  Well, that shower happened the weekend before last, and it was a great success if I do say so myself!

Megan's wedding colors are black, white, and light yellow, and so I stuck with those colors as a theme for the shower. Pinterest was a huge source of inspiration because, frankly, I have zero vision of my own when it comes to these things and, also frankly, I was shocked that everything came together as splendidly as it did in the end. Here are some photos from the day!

these salted caramel macarons from La BoƮte here in Austin were a big hit!

gorg cake by the bride's sister

made the cupcakes myself, thank you very much! cupcake liners from Sur La Table.

for party favors, guests were given cute bags to fill up with goodies from the food table

Hope you enjoyed your peek into the shower! Happy Wednesday... (and incidentally, Happy Halloween!)

Grass Valley, Part II (the nuptials)

There's something about the energy at a wedding, don't you think? Especially if you're behind the scenes with either the bride or groom. The excitement, the tension, the being on the brink of what will hopefully be a lifetime of love and happiness and, yes, ups and downs, but commitment and forgiveness through it all.

There's just something about that. :) Here are the remaining pictures from our Grass Valley weekend and the beautiful wedding we attended. Jared, Miranda, and family... thanks for everything, and congratualtions! Wishing you two a love and adventure-filled life together...

A frat brother performed the marriage ceremony... it was amazing. Quote: "By the power vested in me by the state of California and the Galactic Empire, I now pronounce you husband and wife."

yep, the boys were drinking before the ceremony even started.

that beautiful veil had been in the family for generations!

speech!

 the bride's brother was hilarious.

Even though I enjoyed taking some photos from a guest's perspective, I still have no interest in doing wedding photography. To be honest, it scares the crap out of me. Talk about pressure! ;)

Have a great day!

PS - Yes, I wore white to a wedding. No, I wasn't doing it to make a statement or anything. The "don't wear white to a wedding rule" didn't even cross my mind when I packed that dress - if it had, I might have used it as an excuse to go buy something new! I do think rules like that are incredibly silly, though. I wouldn't have cared a bit or even noticed if someone wore white to my wedding. :)

yes to the dress

Maid of Honor duties called this weekend, and off I went with the BFF and a small posse to search for that perfect dress she’ll don come December 1st of this year. I’m happy to announce that, after a day-full of intensive gown hunting, the ONE was revealed in a bright vision from the heavens (or something like that), and then quickly snatched up at a bargain.  When does that ever happen?!  You find the perfect dress AND it’s the perfect price?  Seldom, that’s when.  The weekend was a success!

In other news, I’ve been camping out at my mom’s as Edd has taken a turn for the worse, and so happy times are peppered in with sad times, but I find myself wanting to feel the full height and width and breadth of it.  This is life… filled with both joy and sorrow; both new birth and, yes, death.  After all, “the deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain,” remember? (from The Prophet.)

We’re thinking hours or days are now left on Edd’s earthly body, but I have to believe that he’ll awaken on the other side with a new body, and that some day we’ll all be together again and all of this will make sense…

Enjoy a few pretty pictures from the weekend, and then go tell the people you love that you love them, OK? Or better yet, show them. Happiest of Mondays to you. :)
