A dress for the end of the world
Well my friends, if the world ends tomorrow, it's been so nice knowing you. I figured I'd go out with a bang in a pretty party dress. I also figured that if we rise from the ashes, rebuild society, and hook back up to the Internet, I'd like to be discovered in something exceedingly fashionable and also affordable, thanks to my friends over at Tailor & Stylist (the best new shop, y'all - coupon code below!!).
Anyway, yesterday was something of a disastrous day. I have a to do list 2.7 miles long and yet somehow I found myself sitting in a doctor's office with my husband all afternoon (WHY are doctors forever running behind? WHY do we have to call them if we're running late, and yet we get no notice when THEY are running late?), and then, after two hours of twiddling my thumbs in the waiting room (my phone died after about 15 minutes - then I had to do things like read grimy magazines and pace the room, growing more deranged by the moment... what did people do before cell phones??), we were finally on our way out, only to face wretched Austin rush-hour traffic. (That was an inexcusably long sentence. Sometimes I like to see how far I can go without a period.)
Despite my having planned a rather elaborate dinner at home, we decided to hit the town for something fancy at Guero's Taco Bar, and on the way there we were distracted by Austin Pets Alive, where there was the most adorable little 8 month Pittie baby boy named Poncho (that name would HAVE to go), and we fell in love with him and wanted him and essentially turned into giant puddles of mush at one look from his amber-colored eyes (if you follow on Instagram, you saw some rather blurry pictures of his sweetness!). We tore ourselves away to have our tacos and forced ourselves to sleep on it. Ultimately, I think we've decided it would be an exceptionally horrible idea to get a third dog right now, but that doesn't mean we won't do it. If you start to see photos of Poncho on this blog, it means we did it. If not, it means we didn't.
Here's more shots of my end of the world outfit (which will probably be my New Year's Eve outfit as well, if the world doesn't wind up ending after all...)
